September development and progress update
over 4 years ago – Mon, Sep 23, 2019 at 03:15:15 AM

Hey there backers!

It’s a time for an update, and today we’re going to talk about:

  • Development is going full steam ahead
  • Roadmap towards the end of the year
  • A quick update on the promos

Development is going full steam ahead

Right now as we’re nearing the final stretch to launch the Dized tools, the development team is concentrating especially on these four key features:

  • Polishing up the editor (where the animations are built)
  • Smoothing out and finishing up the flow and logic editor
  • Finishing and integrating the import tool for 3d models
  • Finishing and integrating the marketplace and new menu to Dized

(Reviewing the new main menu UI for the next version of the app.)

Some features are further along than others, but all are well on their way, as you probably saw from the video we posted in the earlier update.

Roadmap towards the end of the year

As some of you might have caught in our social media, we were searching for more developers to help the development team out, after having some staff changes post-Gen Con. Luckily enough we were able to find talented devs to join the team.

Our production did hit a small delay due to missing those key players and spending time onboarding the new devs with the project.

Previously we made an estimate to start external testing for the Tutorial Tool in September. While this was a schedule we could have kept, it would have meant a month long crunch for the development team. If you’ve ever heard of crunch in games business, it can be a pretty unforgiving time, where the team does long days at a relentless pace (and sometimes has to cut corners).

That’s not what we want our company culture to be and we don’t want to burn out our employees. We have previous experience of trying to push the team hard to get things published earlier and have learned it’s not a viable solution when building a platform. The workload does not ease at the publishing, quite the contrary actually. We decided to delay the start of the external tests by a few weeks and let our team keep at it at their safe pace, rather than doing an extended sprint to get it out by the end of the month.

So all in all, we’ve moved the start of external testing to October. We are already in contact with some of the first content creators, who will be in the first group of testers.

We’ll continue to keep you up to date on the progress as we go, despite this small setback everything is going forwards smoothly.

And before we go a quick update on the promos!

One more promo is still being manufactured and it should arrive to our fulfillment center in a few weeks. The rest of the items, such as the dice set, badges etc. are also being manufactured right now. If no unexpected delays hit the factories, we’ll start the fulfillment before the Holidays. And as previously, we’ll keep you up to date on this, so you’ll have time to fix your address details should they change in the meantime.

(Here’s the new beauty - Dized Diceset 2.0 !)

Also, Dized will be attending Spiel in Essen for the 6th time! So if you’re attending the event, feel free to come and give a few high-fives at 2-D120!

That’s it for now!

Cheers,

- Team Dized

Post Gen Con and progress update
over 4 years ago – Thu, Aug 22, 2019 at 02:38:25 AM

Hey there backers! Dized crew is back to the office after a successful Gen Con and it’s time for an update of what we’ve been up to lately!

Today we talk about:

- Expos
- Progress with the tools (with a video!)
- Schedule for the Kickstarter promos

Expos

We took part in UK Games Expo in early June and Gen Con in early August. Both shows were important to us and Dized, as they were places where we could meet with both European and North American publishers. As we’re gearing up towards the release of the Tutorial Tool, we need to keep everyone up to date and ready to go for the moment when we hit publish.

Both events were very successful and we met up with over a 100 publishers and industry operators - not to forget some great discussions with our backers (please drop a comment if you’ve talked with us at one of these shows). At Gen Con we had time to talk with a lot of players who have tried out Dized. We appreciate all the feedback and ideas that we received! We are always happy to see how much people like Dized and everyone is of course very excited about getting their hands on some more tutorials!

Our next event will be Spiel in Essen, Germany in late October. So if you’re attending the fair, make sure to book some time in your calendar to visit our booth as well!

Progress with the tools

The Tutorial tool is still planned to be released in 2019 and our goal is to bring it to it on the hands of the first group of content creators in September. (We did hit an unexpected delay in development just this week but we’re doing our best to keep to this schedule.) The first phase will last anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, depending on the feedback and of course the overall success of the test phase. After which we’ll open it up for the whole industry.

This is the stage where the magic really starts to happen and the content will start pouring in.

This is the same procedure we used with the release of the Rules tool late last year, to make sure that the widespread launch is as smooth as possible. And up to date there’s almost 70 digital rules with the built in FAQ’s released.

It’s been a long and challenging development as the project is a massive undertaking. We’ve actually just released a blog entry with a lot more insight and details on the whole philosophy behind the tools and tutorials.

Check the blog post here!

And of course, as promised, here’s the trailer video where you can get a sneak peak on the Tutorial Tool in action. You can see both how the tutorial flow is created with a ‘flow chart’ builder and how easy it is to create animations quickly with our 3D editor. And yes, all this can be created in a web browser!

You can see the video here!

Now that we’re nearing the release of the tools, several publishers are going to need help from content creators to help get their tutorials to Dized as soon as possible. So if you’re interested please let us know!

Promos

Majority of the campaign promos have been manufactured and already delivered to the fulfillment center. We’re working to get the last promos done soon so we can start shipping. We don’t have an exact date for shipping yet but will let you know as soon as we do. Please keep your address details up to date!

Dized Credits now available!
about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 12, 2019 at 10:21:42 PM

Hello Backers!

We just wanted to check in with you as exciting things are happening!

In this update we talk about:

  • Credits (which you can redeem right now!)
  • Even more content!

Credits

You can now redeem your Dized Credits! You should have the instructions in your email on how to do this, please make sure to check your spam as well as sometimes they can get lost in there!

During the Kickstarter campaign, one of the stretch goals was extra credits. As some of you may have noticed, these Credits weren’t delivered yet but will be at a later date, so please don't worry!

If you do have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send us a message on here or on social media, we are always happy to answer any questions that you may have!

Please note, that as we sent out thousands of codes at the same time, we’ve received a lot of support requests, so it might take a while for us to answer your questions! Also, if you do contact [email protected], please know that we do not monitor this inbox over the weekend but will respond to you as quickly as we can on Monday!

Some of you asked what you can buy with the Credits, and the answer is content in Dized or you can use them for the subscription. These will be available after the Early Access ends, so you’ll have the Credits ready to go!
