Latest Updates from Our Project:

Big Box Games Coming to Dized!
about 3 years ago – Sat, Apr 10, 2021 at 10:32:16 PM

Hello Backers!

We are bringing you some good news today as we have started the work on more complex tutorials!

During the past months, after the content creations tools were published, we've been mostly focusing on tutorials for somewhat lighter games. This was because creating content for more complex games was still a bit too time consuming, meaning the projects would've ended up costing too much. Our tools are now at a stage where we can move ahead with the more complex projects too!

One such title was announced today: Robinson Crusoe - Adventures on the Cursed Island by Portal Games. The Collector's Edition is being crowdfunded for a few days more and in order to give their backers a taste of a Dized Tutorial a short Tutorial Teaser was created. You can find it on the web and in the Dized app right now!

(The above animated gif might load for a moment)

Try out the Dized Tutorial Teaser.

And do check out the Robinson Crusoe Collector's Edition campaign, which you will be able to learn with a Dized Tutorial!

On our next update we will talk more about these more complex projects, the Dized content creation tools and the upcoming tutorials for some big box games. In the image are listed some big box titles that will be worked on in the coming months:

Dized Tutorials now available on the Web!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Feb 28, 2021 at 02:36:25 PM

Dear Backers,

There's one bit of news for you today, but it's a big one:

THE DIZED TUTORIALS ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON THE WEB!

Web access means Tutorials* can now be accessed with a computer, though please note that using the tutorials with a smart device still requires the Dized app.

* The three tutorials not available on the web yet are Blood Rage, ICECOOL and Kingdomino. These tutorials were created before we had the Dized Content Creation Tools and publishing them on the web is a bit more complicated. However, these Tutorials still remain usable in the app.

Now, let's talk a bit about the Tutorials and your Credits. We have determined that in order to get more content to the platform sooner, we will need to grow our user base substantially. A sizeable audience will incentive publishers to put their content onto the platform sooner. We're doing this by making the content easier to access, which is why we have worked on bringing the content to the web. Additionally, after discussing this with the participating publishers, we have decided to make the Tutorials free to access and without the need to register for a Dized account.

However, this does not mean all future tutorials will automatically be offered for free. This decision is, and has always been, up to the publisher. Additionally, the above applies only to Tutorials, not the other additional digital content that will be available later this year. Rules will of course remain free as they have been all this time.

Your Credits are safe and will remain on your account. You are able to use them to access the paid content and features on the platform.

Rules will be accessible on the web later in the spring. Our schedule for it is May though we got some unfortunate news yesterday as the icy spring in Finland surprised one of our developers and they fractured their hand. This naturally makes keeping that timeline more challenging and we're hoping for a quick recovery. Once we are able to focus on the development of the Rules web access we will be asking your feedback in order to make sure Dized Rules will be the best possible source for solving issues with game rules!

Now, here are all the Tutorials you can already access on the web - try them out and let us know how it goes! Also, feel free to share these links for anyone who you think might be interested in checking them out. The more people we get interested in the Dized Tutorials, the faster the library will grow too!

Have a great rest of the weekend, share the links and we will get back to you next week about content creation!

Stay safe!

Major developments with Dized!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Feb 28, 2021 at 12:32:36 PM

Hello backers! We have some great news for you:

  • Dized app updated with Portrait Mode and Search functionality
  • Dized content is coming to web
  • More content!
  • Roadmap ahead

Dized app updated with Portrait Mode and Search functionality

Portrait mode has been one of the most requested features and also one of our campaign promises. Getting it done wasn't as easy as we thought and that's why it's been postponed until now. We've been focusing on more pressing development areas. And, while it still isn't perfect either, it already makes using the menus a lot better experience.

Search has also been added to the app. Finding a specific title has become a lot more tedious now that the library is starting to grow, and the search gets you where you need to be a lot quicker.

You will find these updates available on the latest version of Dized. And as always, if you run into any issues, please contact us!

Portrait mode now available!

Dized content is coming to web

During this spring, all Dized Rules and Tutorials will also be accessible on the web! This means you can access the Dized content using a computer and a browser. It's good to note that the smart device usage of tutorials will still require the Dized app.

Tutorials in web will be available in March and Rules in May.

More Content!

This. This is what we all want. The release speed of new tutorials has still been relatively low with 13 tutorials in the past 6 months. However, we're expecting the speed of new content to go from monthly to weekly during this spring, and closer to daily by the end of the year!

After getting the tools online last fall we've been developing crucial areas and fixing bugs so that the tools will serve the creators well. We're getting closer to the moment when we can start training more creators into the tools and we'll be updating you about this soon.

And speaking of new content, there are some new tutorials: Chess, Fluxx and Shobu!

The Netflix series Queen's Gambit took the world by storm, bringing Chess once again back to the tables and minds of players around the world. We thought it'd only be apt to help out all those aspiring chess players by offering a tutorial! If you’re interested in learning the game or don't know how castling works, crab a chess set and head to Dized! The tutorial was created together with the Dized content creator community and it didn't take long. It's another tutorial that highlights the efficiency of the tools.

Tutorial for chess now available in Dized!

If Chess is not your cup of tea don't worry, we’ve also released the tutorial of the classic Fluxx from Looney Labs, and the beautiful Shobu from Smirk & Laughter.

Shobu from Smirk & Laughter

Also expect the tutorials for King of Tokyo, Munchkin and Cerebria to hit the app in the upcoming weeks. And soon to follow after them Dice Miner and Potion Explosion.

With the advancements in the tools there will soon be heavier games on the platform too, such as aforementioned Cerebria, Tokyo Sidekick, Cartographers, and Scythe!

Roadmap ahead

In general our biggest goal for this year is to get the content creation happening on a much bigger scale. For the upcoming features we're focusing on things that make Dized even more valuable for publishers, as that's how we'll also see their games appearing onto the platform:

  • Spring 2021: Web Availability
  • Summer 2021: Localized Content (Content available in different languages)
  • Fall 2021: Extras (digital game add-ons)

So worry not, our team is working hard to deliver you the Dized you backed us for. We'll be sending another update soon about the web content and content creation.

Until then, go try out the Portrait Mode and the Search. Let us know what you think!

Take care and stay safe,

- Team Dized

Season's Greetings Backers!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Dec 22, 2020 at 04:04:57 PM

What a year it has been. As many others, we had high hopes and expectations going into 2020. We were hoping to be able to go to many expos and show publishers what Dized has to offer, and instead we now simply feel lucky to have stayed healthy and been able to continue the development of Dized.

This year was a difficult one and while staying at home we coped by focusing on our work. We finally got the Dized tools published at the end of the summer and we've been able to publish 10 new tutorials into the app since - most of them done by publishers!

Tutorials published in 2020

Although we were originally aiming for a higher number of content this year, these first tutorials are an important start and proof that the Dized toolset is up for the task. During the creation of these we have improved the tools and are soon focusing on the end user experience as well, for example by adding a portrait mode into the app!

Portrait mode coming early 2021

Despite the struggles we are optimistic and again have high hopes for the upcoming year! We expect 2021 to be a great year for us with lots of new content and features.

We would also love to hear from you - which new titles are you looking forward to in 2021 that you would like to see a tutorial for? Is there some other digital content you'd want? What features could make your board gaming life a lot better? Let us know in the comments!

We wish to thank our Backers and users, who have helped us along this long journey. There are still mountains to climb to finally reach our dream of the ultimate companion app, but with the tools published we are well on our way now. Thank you for your support, you are awesome!

Happy Holidays, stay safe, and play more games!

Best,

- Team Dized

Dized November Update - new tutorials and the roadmap ahead!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Nov 06, 2020 at 04:55:10 PM

Hello dear Backers!

Here are the topics for today’s update:

  • New Dized tutorials now available - and more on the way
  • Replacements for missing promos are being shipped out soon
  • What’s on the roadmap ahead?

New Dized tutorials now available - and more on the way

The content library keeps growing! The latest tutorials include Hello Neighbor: The Secret Party Game from Arcane Wonders, Pigasus and Farm Rescue from Brain Games, and Fidget Factory from Antsy Labs. They’re already available in Dized, go check them out!

Hello Neighbor: The Secret Party Game is also the first game to have a Dized Tutorial download code in the box. In short, if you buy a new copy of the game, you will get a one-time use redeem code for the content with the purchase. Several publishers have shown interest towards this model, so you’ll be seeing more Dized codes in game boxes in the future.

Dized Download Code Scratch Card!

For the release schedule ahead, we can mention a few. If all goes as planned, you can expect the tutorials for Munchkin, King of Tokyo, Scythe, Tokyo Sidekick, Potion Explosion, Cerebria, Shobu and Fluxx to hit the app this year. Most likely there will be more, but as several creators and publishers are currently working on multiple contents at the same time, we don’t have a solid release schedule yet for them.

It’s looking really good as publishers are starting to implement tutorials especially for their newer titles. And as always, if you want to see your favorite or some upcoming game in Dized, tag the publisher in social media or drop them a message!

Replacements for missing promos are being shipped out soon

The promo replacement process has now started. It was later than we expected due to the shipping lanes not being open and backers still receiving their packages a short while ago. Now that we are sure all packages that were enroute have been delivered, we gave the go-ahead to the fulfillment company to send the replacements. The tentative schedule is that the packages should be going out the door in the next few weeks; estimated arrival time is mid-December to late January, depending on your location.

What’s on the roadmap ahead?

Right now we’re heavily concentrating on 4 things:

  1.  Getting more content onto the app. This means more publishers, more projects, and more everything now that the tools are up and running.

  2.  Supporting publishers, and content creators. We’re constantly making sure that creators have all the tools they need to create tutorials on their own. And as the tools grow and update with requested features, we need to keep all training material and assets up-to-date. In case you're interested in creating content for Dized there will be more information on our next update in a few week's time!

  3.  New features for tools.  Speaking of upgrading the tools, we ARE upgrading the tools continually! These include useful features requested by creators and planned by our team.

  4.  New features for Dized. Several new features that improve the user experience will be added to the app in the future, ranging from new User Interfaces—like a vastly improved Rules layout—and faster loading times, to portrait mode which was one of our campaign stretch goals and a hugely popular request.

Furthermore, of course, we aim to engage the community and keep working on other business-related things that require our attention. There is a lot on our plate but it is all aimed to grow Dized into the platform we always dreamed of!

That’s it for now, stay safe and take care!

- Team Dized
